According to water booster pump manufacturers, there are seven things you must do during the maintenance of your diesel engine water pump.

1. Clean the appearance of the diesel engine and ancillary equipment.

Wipe off the oil, water and dust on the surface of the engine body, turbocharger, cylinder head housing, and air cleaner, etc. with a dry cloth; wipe off the dust on the surface of the charging generator, radiator, and fan, etc. with compressed air.

2. Check the injection pump drive connection plate.

Check if the connection screw is loose; if it is loose, re-calibrate the injection advance angle and tighten the connection screw.

3. Check the oil level of the injection pump governor.

If the oil level fails to reach the specified mark, add enough oil.

4. Check the oil level in the oil sump.

Observe whether the oil level reaches the mark on the oil dipstick, and add to the specified amount if it is insufficient, but not more than the upper limit of the mark on the dipstick.

5. Check whether the water in the tank is sufficient.

Replenish the water immediately the water in the tank is found to be insufficient. No groundwater should be used, for it is easy to form scale in the water tank, which will affect the cooling effect and cause failure. So groundwater can be used only after softening.

6. Check whether there is sufficient lubricating grease in the injection point of the diesel water pump.

Remove the injection nozzle from the diesel engine circulating water pump and observe whether the lubricating grease inside is sufficient; inject sufficient lubricating grease inside by using the grease gun if the lubricating grease is insufficient.

7. Conduct proper preventive maintenance.

It’s vital to extend the service life and reduce the cost of use. During routine maintenance, check the fuel quantity in the fuel tank, observe the fuel tank stock, and add enough as needed.
